正直に申しますと、私は地学オリンピックに参加させて頂くまで地学とはほとんど無縁の生活を送っておりました。ほとんど直感的に「面白そうなイベントだな」と思って申し込んだのです。実際に参加してみると、その面白さは想像以上のものでした。たくさんの出会いに恵まれました。心の底から楽しめる趣味ができました。卑近な話になりますが、本選参加の実績は大学受験の助けにもなりました。あのときの直感が今の自分に与えている影響の大きさは計り知れません。青春の貴重な時間を費やす価値は十二分にあります。既に地学に熱心な方は勿論、これを機会に地学に触れてみたいという方も、ひとつ挑戦してみましょう。
