地学好きがたくさん集う楽しい場であることは言うまでもないのですが、大学で地学関係を専攻する予定の方はもちろん、そうでない方もたくさん参加していて、参加者みんなが様々な視点を持っている点が、この地学オリンピックの大きな魅力です。
さらに国際大会に参加できれば、国境を超えた一生ものの地学仲間をたくさん作れます。自由時間が非常に長くとられている上、国際協力野外調査などのイベントもあるため、深く交流できるのが特徴です。
最近は予選問題の範囲が地学基礎となっているため、幾分勉強はしやすい形になっています。教科書を理解することでかなりの問題が解けるようになるため、ぜひ気軽にチャレンジしてみてください。
